about

This album was made during a very turbulent period of my life, with little time to focus on making music. I found that expressing gratitude for the little time I could make available for creating music resulted in a certain quality. Externally, there was a lot of possible excuses and reason to why I could not record anything. However, internally I found great value for the joy of creating. Hence, I titled the album "Value Your Presence". No matter what your circumstance is, you always got a unique perspective which is of great potential value if you manage to value your presence.

This project started with the B-side "Present Sunday", uploaded to YouTube on the 26th of September 2015. The album was released in the summer of 2017.

Present Sunday did not make it to the album, but the way I felt the day of writing that song has indeed been the foundation for the whole album.

Regarding album structure, it can be divided into several parts. First I got four introductory tracks called "Dyke", "White Snow", "The Build Up" and "Hit". These aims to put emphasis on certain things to a more extremely level compared to the other tracks. Then, the song "Bridge" comes, which acts as bridge to the main songs of the album. The main songs are "Revelry", "Breeze", "Rising Energy", "Playful", "Black Snow" and "Breathe...". These tracks focuses on rhythm and melody and they do not put extreme emphasis on any certain element like the four introductory songs.

Then, the two pre-outro tracks comes. The first track here is "The Spirit", which tend to change melody consistently for the lead guitar. However, the lead guitar melody is repeated for the outro. Then, "My Therapeutic Song" comes which is even more unstructured than "The Spirit". The purpose is to let the song evolve and flow freely. Finally, I end with the track "Letting Go", which aims to have a different vibe compared to the other songs. This creates a contrast to the rest of the album, which one can experience when letting go of things in life.
